Teacher & Guide
A renowned scholar and spiritual guide who has dedicated his life to preserving and transmitting the authentic Islamic tradition.

Student & Singer
A devoted student who studied under Shaykh Dr. Abdalqadir as-Sufi in South Africa and received permission to transmit the sacred art.
Abdelfatah Mouttaqui carries a precious dual lineage: his father, Shaykh Abdelkabir Mouttaqui (rahimahullah), served as the Muqadim in Casablanca of the great gnostic Shaykh Muhammad ibn al-Habib (may Allah be pleased with him), author of the blessed Diwan. Additionally, Abdelfatah studied under Shaykh Dr. Abdalqadir as-Sufi in South Africa, where he received ijazah (permission) to transmit the art of singing sacred Islamic poetry.

This authorization, known as idn, represents a sacred trust and an unbroken chain of transmission stretching back through generations of spiritual masters to the source of the Diwan itself.
The ijazah is not merely a certificate—it is a spiritual transmission that carries with it the baraka (blessing) and ma'rifa (gnosis) from the Shaykh to the student. Through this chain, each one having received permission from their Shaykh before them, the sacred knowledge remains pure and authentic.
When you learn from Abdelfatah, you are not simply learning melodies and verses. You are connecting to a living tradition, receiving the transmission of baraka and spiritual knowledge that has been carefully preserved and passed down through authorized teachers—from Shaykh Muhammad ibn al-Habib through his Muqadim, Abdelfatah's father, and through Shaykh Dr. Abdalqadir as-Sufi.

Sacred Islamic poetry—from the Diwan of Sidi Muhammad ibn al-Habib to the Burdah of Imam al-Busiri, from Qasa'id to Dalail al-Khairat—is not merely verse. These are spiritual keys that open the doors of divine knowledge and love. When sung with proper adab and sincere intention, these verses become a means of ascending through the spiritual stations.
Through the melodious recitation of these sacred texts, the student's heart becomes attuned to the subtle realities of the spiritual path. The rhythms and melodies serve as vehicles for the transmission of baraka (blessing) and ma'rifa (gnosis) from the Shaykh to the student.
Learning to sing these blessed works is an act of love and service—love for the Prophet ﷺ, love for the awliya (saints), and service to the preservation of this precious spiritual heritage for future generations.
